The study continued until 1953, Kollath introduced the term probiotic is defined as microbial transcription factors that stimulate the growth of other microorganisms. In 1989, Roy Fuller, a microbiologist, suggest new definition which is a dietary supplement that contains live beneficial microbes to the host animal improve the microbial balance of the gut. Probiotics, medication or supplements?

Until now, the benefits of probiotics are still being debated. Scientists are still doing research about it. Publication tremendous benefits of probiotics is still a scientifically unproven assumption in detail.

According to the history and origin of the benefits have since been found, a probiotic is more accurately described as a healthy food (not a drug). By taking someone will be helped balance of normal flora in the gut. According to Prof. Bob Rastall (Reading University) with a probiotic such as functional foods are products contained therein ingredients or components that help improve health or reduce the risk of disease, but it is not a drug because it is not able to prevent or treat disease.
